Co-Owner & Doctor of Physical Therapy | Naos Physical and Occupational Therapy

Rob Gray, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Certified Craniofacial Specialist (CFC), is the co-owner of Naos Physical and Occupational Therapy alongside his wife, Aonya. A Vestavia Hills native, Rob is passionate about providing individualized, hands-on care to help patients overcome pain and regain function, with a specialized focus on head, jaw, and cervical spine conditions.

A Personal Journey to Physical Therapy

Rob’s passion for physical therapy began with his own experience as a patient. As a teenager, he suffered a significant low back injury that ultimately led to lumbar fusion surgery during his sophomore year of high school. This personal challenge not only shaped his understanding of pain and recovery but also ignited his calling to help others heal through movement and rehabilitation. Rob firmly believes that God used this experience to guide him into a career in physical therapy, giving him a deep sense of empathy and purpose in his work.

Education & Specialization

Rob graduated from Vestavia Hills High School in 2003 before earning his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Auburn University in 2007. He then pursued his Doctorate in Physical Therapy at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, graduating in 2010.

With over a decade of experience in orthopedic and spine rehabilitation, Rob has treated a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and developed a deep passion for addressing temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD), cervical spine dysfunction, headaches, and facial pain. After spending eight years in a local orthopedic physical therapy practice, he recognized the need for a more specialized, patient-centered approach to treating jaw, head, and upper cervical spine conditions. In 2018, he founded Naos Physical and Occupational Therapy to offer private, one-on-one care with a focus on holistic and evidence-based treatments.

In 2020, he earned his Craniofacial Certification (CFC) from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, further solidifying his expertise in TMD, orofacial pain, and craniofacial rehabilitation. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), bringing an in-depth understanding of movement, biomechanics, and injury prevention to his treatment approach.

Beyond the Clinic

Rob and his wife, Aonya, have been married since July 2011, and they are proud parents to three children: Lawson, Adalie, and Linton. He enjoys spending time with his family, staying active, and serving in the preschool ministry at The Church at Brook Hills.

Rob believes that physical therapy is his calling, and he is dedicated to helping patients find relief from pain and return to the activities they love.
